The Yellowknife Community Foundation is pleased to announce the establishment of the Resilient Communities Fund designed to help Yellowknife rebuild as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. “We’re in this for the long-haul,” says Robin Greig, President of the Yellowknife Community Foundation. “We have set up this Fund to support meaningful projects that will help our community recover from the pandemic and now we need your support. Every donation made to the Resilient Communities Fund will grow and continue to have an impact long after the original gift is made.”
The Resilient Communities Fund will provide focused granting for projects that help our community recover and build resilience against the impacts of COVID-19 and future challenges. The Foundation expects to start making grants from the Fund later this year. “Since 1993, the generosity of Yellowknifers, past and present, has helped us award over $1.6 million in grants and scholarships. This new Fund will help us build on that legacy and go a long way to strengthening our community” said Greig.
Donations can be made a number of ways. Check out our website at: www.ykcf.ca/donate or give us a call at (867) 446 4527 to find out how.
The establishment of Resilient Communities Fund follows the Yellowknife Community Foundation’s two recent announcements: ‘Together, we are strong’ – a partnership with United Way NWT to address immediate issues across the NWT and the Yellowknife Community Foundation’s doubling of the number of scholarships in 2020. All three initiatives are in response to the impacts of COVID-19 on our community and the Northwest Territories.
The Yellowknife Community Foundation was formed in 1993 to provide interested individuals and organizations with a means of supporting projects in our community for the enduring future. The Foundation is not singularly dedicated to any specific area of support. It embodies a simple concept – that people working together can make a difference. For information:
